The magazine features original work by SCAD students, including fiction, non-fiction, poetry, sequential art, illustration, painting, photography and more. The theme for the spring issue is materialism, and the deadline for submissions is Friday, March 26. Any current student at SCAD, undergrad or grad, may submit their work to be considered for publication in the magazine. The spring issue of District Quarterly is scheduled to launch near the end of April.

Did you hear about SCAD-Con? The Savannah College of Art and Design just released the press release for a 2011 date. It’s over a year from now, but with so much time in between, I’m hoping to see plenty of exhibitors, artists, and more announced.
Enjoy your spring break everyone! SCAD strategically plans break to take place during the week of St. Patrick’s Day, because the city’s festivities are a huge distraction. With tourists flooding downtown from all over the country, and drunkards humiliating themselves in public, it’s hard to ignore the celebration. Luckily for some of us, we left the state of Georgia or even the country to escape from the “Mardi Gras” of Savannah. Spring quarter begins Monday!
Viral | Alum Elena Barbarich created a Lady Gaga-inspired illustration based on the song “Telephone”, featuring Beyonce. The blogosphere has exploded, with Lady Gaga herself tweeting the image and calling it “completely brilliant“. I’m sure Elena has made a ton of page views from this endorsement
Announcements | Oni Press just announced the solicitation of “Super Pro K.O.!” written and illustrated by alum Jarrett Williams. We also got our hands on some preview pages from the book as well. [Robot 6]
Interviews | Alum Patric Reynolds talks about his Firefly one-shot, and name-drops SEQA PJ Donny Cates at the end! [Comics Alliance]
Interviews | Alum Kurt Pearsons is a radio host AND published comic artist, and talks about how he combines his skills. [SCADRadio.org]
Interviews | Yet another interview with Alum Jay Potts! We keep seeing his name pop-up everywhere. He’s been nominated for a ton of Glyph Awards, also, so congratulations! [4thLetter, The Comics Beat]
