SCAD alumnus Dave Valeza and SCAD MFA student Kate Kasenow both worked on a new graphic novel from Archaia Comics that’s receiving a lot of attention these days. The book is An Elegy for Ameilia Johnson. Dave started working on the book while still a grad student and Kate finished it up while in the Sequential Art program. The book was written by Andrew Rostan.

This workshop will cover the basic of what you should have in your portfolio for Editors’ Day and Career Fair. Based on recommendations from editors, publishers and faculty, learn what to put in your portfolio. You will also learn how to design a professional portfolio that will get you noticed. Presented by Anthony Fisher, Chair of Sequential Art. Portfolio Counseling by sequential art faculty will follow the presentation.

The Savannah College of Art and Design sequential art department will host comic Brad Vancata March 30th, 2011. Vanacata will be visiting sequential art classes in Norris Hall, 548 E. Broughton St., Savannah, Ga., and will do a presentation of his work and experiences at 7:00pm-8:30pm, in Mondanaro Theater, Crites Hall, 217 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
