Archaia Looking for Intern!

Do you love comic books?

The Los Angeles office of Archaia Entertainment is looking for interns who are seeking college credit and/or hands-on experience in the comic book industry. We publish the Eisner Award Winning books Return of the Dapper Men (Best Original Album) and Mouse Guard: Legends of the Guard (Best Anthology), Jim Henson’s The Dark Crystal , Fraggle Rock , Labyrinth , and Tale of Sand graphic novels, Immortals: God and Heroes in partnership with Relativity Media and their feature film Immortals , as well as a number of critically acclaimed graphic novels.

Responsibilities of the internship include:

• Filing and maintaining of in-office inventory
• Reading and writing coverage for comic book scripts
• Writing copy for publication materials
• Writing marketing materials such as creator bios, product descriptions and press releases
• Monitoring and updating Archaia social networks (Facebook, Twitter, etc.)
• Conducting thorough online research
• Corresponding with bloggers and members of the press on behalf of Archaia
• Communicating with local comic shop retailers
• Running out-of-office errands
• Shipping and receiving
• Answering phone and other general office duties
• Reading Archaia comic books to familiarize yourself with our brand
• Proofreading comic book printer proofs
• Writing and designing the company’s bi-weekly newsletter
• Conducting interviews with writers and artists
• Logging incoming submissions for review
• Voluntary participation in local conventions, events, and signings

Interns must meet the following requirements:

• Incredibly detail-oriented
• Possess great personality over the phone and in person
• Energetic, enthusiastic and eager
• Excellent writing and communication skills
• Creative, out-of-the box thinker
• Pop-culture savvy
• Self-motivator, responsible and able to follow directions
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office; graphic design background (Adobe Pro, InDesign, Photoshop) a plus but not necessary
• Able to competently conduct research on the Internet
• Familiar with multiple social networking sites (Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, etc.)
• Can work 2-3 consecutive days, with hours from 10:00am – 6:00pm
• Can reliably commute to Hollywood
• Have their own laptop with wireless Internet capability that they are willing to bring and use in the office
• And of course, a love of comic books!


• Meet prominent creators and make important contacts in the comic book industry
• Learn the business of producing comics from pitching an idea to distribution
• Attend comics industry social functions in the LA area
• Free Archaia comic books and graphic novels!

Internship period: Jan. 2 to May 25, 2012

This job is unpaid but can offer college credit.”
