Publishers | Not too recently, DC Comics is now becoming DC Entertainment. Rich Johnston reported that DC Comics could be moving their headquarters to LA to be in the hustle and bustle of the Hollywood industry. Our professors at SCAD have told us that breaking into mainstream comics happens in New York, but will that still be applicable if DC Comics makes the move? [Bleeding Cool] In a related story, manga publisher Kodansha is coming to America and setting up offices in New York. [Publisher’s Weekly]

Awards | Alum Eleanor Davis was nominated for a “Leah Adezio Award For Best Kid-Friendly Work”, which is a 2009 Friends of Lulu Award. [PW Beat]

Writing | Denis O Neal, writer of DC Comics Guide to Writing (a required textbook for SEQA’s Comic Book Scripting class), premiered his first article for Bleeding Cool:

Conventions | Alum Rebekah Isaacs posted her signing schedule for Baltimore Comic-con in her Facebook Status:

Career | SCAD’s Career Services is hosting a networking social. Notable SEQA students are in bold. Details after the jump below:

Sophomore Career Networking Social, Communication Arts, Wednesday, October 21st, 7-9pm, Pei Ling Chan Gallery
Please join us for refreshments at this event for an opportunity to meet faculty and other students in your field, hear from an intern panel, and ask questions about career planning.  All sophomores and other interested undergraduates are encouraged to attend.  We will focus on the importance of resume building by becoming involved early in your academic career.
